No: QMonitor uploads securely all the metrics to our servers in the cloud. You don't need to install a SQL Server instance or any other database to store your data.
We use an agent to poll your SQL Server instances at regular intervals to extract the metrics with simple, lightweight queries.
No, QMonitor needs your sysadmin permissions only during the installation. It runs as a low-privileged user and does not need any permissions on the machine where SQL Server is running.
We keep metrics for 30 days with the highest frequency, to help your troubleshooting inquiries. After that, we aggregate the data and keep it for 2 years for trend analysis.
You can install a single agent for your whole SQL Server estate, it does not need to be installed on the SQL Server machine directly. All you need is network access to your SQL Servers, to run queries and retrieve results.
Of course it does! QMonitor can run against Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instances or any other SQL Server incarnation in the cloud.
